As a visual artist, educator, and collaborator, I believe in the power of cultivating authentic connection through creativity. My mixed media work uses imagery and color to translate our stories. Working with found images and chalk pastel, these works are visual translations that capture feelings and emotions that transcend expression through mere words. My inspiration stems from layers of my life story, my faith, the joys and pains of the creative process, connections to others, and a reverence for the natural world. My work is my small contribution to affect change in the world through visual translations of love, and struggle and hope and every facet of our shared humanity.

Ginger holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a MAT in Visual Arts from the University of the Arts. She is the founding director of Roots + Wings School of Art and Design in Asheville (2009-2023), a dynamic and innovative art and design education program for all ages.  In 2023, Ginger’s working studio was opened offering creative classes, private lessons, retreats, professional development and consulting for schools. These efforts support her former Roots + Wings mission of cultivating authentic connection through creativity in the classroom and empowering creativity in schools everywhere.  She is the new Program Director of Horizons at Carolina Day School, overseeing all summer and year-round education programs and fostering strong relationships with students, families, staff, volunteers, and local partners. As an A+ School of North Carolina Fellow, she collaborates with schools statewide to integrate creativity and collaboration into educational frameworks. Through similar work, she works with Mississippi Whole Schools delivering professional development workshops to teachers from across the state in the summer. She has been a TAPAS Teaching Artist since the inception in 2010 for the Asheville City Schools Foundation where she helped coordinates the program over the years.  Ginger also serves as Visual Art Advisor to PBS for the ‘Pinkalicious’ series, the PBS’ Online Learning platform and the PBS Arts Curriculum development. Her TEDx Talk “Conversations Beyond Words-Translating life through imagery & color” (chosen as Editor’s Pick on TED.com) distills her work in cultivating authentic connection through creativity.
